GT Talent Areas What's Happening in the 2009-2010 School Year!

Specific Academic

Math: Both Jr. Highs have an advanced Math class for each grade level.

Both Jr. Highs have an advanced Science and English courses in 6th grade.

Dual Enrollment, AP, and Honors classes are available at both High Schools. Some of these are available on-line through IDLA. Students no longer have to pay IDLA registration for Dual and AP Courses.

Twin Falls High is piloting an advanced ninth grade Earth Science course this year.  Jo Dodds is its teacher. 

National Geographic Bee Grades 4-8   School-level Geographic Bees: November 10, 2008, through January 16, 2009

The High School has a Quiz Bowl for Math and Science students.

General Intellectual

 

The  GT Magnet Classrooms serve both Academic and Intellectually talented students. The fourth grade is held at Morningside Elementary .  Cami Rush is its teacher. Kaylyn VanOstran teaches the 5th grade Magnet Classroom at Perrine Elementary.

Secondary IDLA classes are open to GT students. 

Visual and Performing Arts

In the Secondary Schools there are many opportunities to participate in advanced music, art and drama classes

For the Elementary Grades there is an after school Strings program.  An auditioned for Honors Choir is held in some schools.



Creativity
There are "Future Problem Solving" Courses available in Moodle for Elementary and Secondary students.  If teachers or schools would like to participate, contact Marti.
