Parent and Student,

We welcome you to Magic Valley High School.  It is our belief that all students should have the opportunity to be successful in life.  Students entering MVHS have made a choice to meet academic and social outcomes that were not met successfully in the traditional setting.  The State Board of Education lists criteria that allow students to choose alternative settings to fulfill their educational needs.

Magic Valley High School has successfully graduated over 400 students in the eleven years that it has been in existence.   The school has implemented many innovative practices, including, block scheduling, that have become models for school districts across the state.   It is the intent of the school to use a different approach to learning that will individually meet the needs of this “at risk” student population.

The success of the school has been a cooperative student, parent, and faculty involvement in the educational and social process.   It is the student’s responsibility to attend school, learn behaviors needed in the adult world, and make school a priority.  It is the parent’s responsibility to be a good role model, see that their student attends school, and support the purpose of an ‘alternative setting’.

In order to continue to have positive outcomes at Magic Valley High School we will continue to individually address student needs and performances.  It is the responsibility of the staff to provide a complete, cooperative academic agenda that will benefit all students within each class/subject area.  It is the responsibility of the student to demonstrate appropriate behavior and quality accomplishments at MVHS; enrollment at MVHS is a choice made by the individual in attendance.  Students are expected to make positive choices in their critical thinking and academic endeavors.  Student responsibility to themselves and others is what makes the learning process at MVHS successful.  If learning objectives and behaviors are not aligned with the needs of the class, it may be necessary to re-evaluate the status of an individual student and their continued enrollment with MVHS.

It is the belief of the staff at Magic Valley High School that this alternative educational

setting will be positive, productive, and provide the necessary learning opportunities for each individual to be successful in life.

Sincerely,

Magic Valley High School Staff
